WHO I AM

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist working in private practice.  I completed a clinical doctorate at Griffith University which is an seven year program.  I have been working in private practice for five years treating adults and older persons.  I have extensive experience in working with those with complex mental health difficulties, particularly complex trauma, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, dementia, psychosis, grief and loss, adult ADHD, relationship difficulties as well as men's and women's health issues.

My approach to therapy is not to just treat the symptoms but consider the underlying difficulites that maintain one's suffering.  Patients often present with stress, depression and anxiety, however, my goal is to look below the surface and determine what is driving these symptoms. I use a number of strategies including techniques from schema therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy.

REFERRALS AND FEES

(Current info as at 1 January 2017)

If you obtain a GP Mental Health Care Plan from you GP, you will be entitled to a rebate from Medicare of $124.50.

A Standard Consultation (50mins) costs $200.00 for the initial session (rebate of $124.50 from Medicare, so out of pocket or gap fee = $75.50) and subsequent sessions are $190.00 (gap fee of $65.50).

Under this scheme you can access 10 sessions per calendar year.  You can attend further sessions, however the full fee of $185 applies with no Medicare rebate (once you have completed your 10 sessions).  If you have private health, you may be eligible for a rebate (the rebate is dependent on your level of cover).

For a concession card holder (health care and disability pension card holders) a Standard Consultation (50mins) costs $170.00 for the initial session (rebate of $124.50 from Medicare, so out of pocket or gap fee = $45.50) and subsequent sessions are $160.00 (gap fee of $35.50).

For persons experiencing financial hardship, we may negotiate with your fees in order to reduce your out-of-pocket (or gap fee) expense.  This will be discussed with you prior to your first appointment.

If you DO NOT provide a current GP Mental Health Care Plan referral you will need to pay for your appointment on the day - full fees apply.

Please note the full amount is required to be paid following your appointment (credit or debit card) and you will be provided the rebate back into a nominated account that day.

Please ensure you bring your Medicare Card.

Fees may increase on 1 January each year.

WHAT IS A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Clinical Psychologists in addition to fulfilling the requirements of a registered psychologist have completed another two years of post-graduate (Masters level) clinical training in an accredited, university based program. There are some clinical psychologists who use the title “Doctor”, and these highly qualified clinicians have also completed a PhD in psychology or a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD).
